Aspire of Life Hosts Its First Pop-Up Care Village in Omaha, NE

Aspire of Life brings essential care services to the streets of Omaha, Nebraska
Backstory
Anis Apovo was on vacation in Africa when COVID-19 hit, and could not get back into the US for seven months. When he returned, he had already lost his house, car, and job and spent the next six months rebuilding his life. Thanks to a couple of friends, Anis got the support he needed to get back on track. This experience showed him first-hand that with the right help, people in similar situations could also get back on their feet. This inspired him to create his own non-profit Aspire of Life and serve the Omaha community.
During their outreach, Anis and his team noticed that many people they were serving really needed showers. After many conversations, Aspire of Life decided to launch their new initiative to build a mobile hygiene and laundry trailer. Aspire of Life soon discovered LavaMaeˣ and joined our mentorship program in April 2022.
How LavaMaeˣ Helped
Aspire of Life initially joined our 1:1 Mentorship program for mobile hygiene, but they soon learned from LavaMaeˣ Consultant Javier de Leon that a great way to gain momentum is to host Pop-Up Care Villages. Javier sent over our Pop-Up Care Village toolkit, and the Aspire of Life team got to work.
Javier meet with Anis on a regular basis for the next few months and helped him with staffing, graphic design, impact reporting, fundraising, and more. And in August 2022, Aspire of Life hosted its first Pop-Up Care Village!
