GLIDE Community Care Events brings essential care services to the streets of the San Francisco Tenderloin
Backstory
GLIDE is a non-profit organization with a historic reputation for meeting the ever-evolving needs of the San Francisco community. Now in its post-COVID era, GLIDE is mobilizing its bountiful services and partners to more effectively reach people while building a deeper sense of community. Leaders at GLIDE have long admired how LavaMaeˣ organizes its Pop-Up Care Villages and reached out for guidance on how to develop their own events.
How LavaMaeˣ Helped
GLIDE and LavaMaeˣ have been longstanding partners in providing essential care services for the Tenderloin community. When the decision was made to mobilize its services to the street, GLIDE reached out to LavaMaeˣ staff in October of 2021 for consulting on developing its Community Care Events. Over the next few months, the LavaMaeˣ consultant Sam Reardon provided GLIDE with our Pop-Up Care Village Toolkit and ongoing guidance on event planning logistics such as the event layout, impact data collection, safety protocols, and more. During the event, Sam monitored the event to support GLIDE throughout the day, helped ensure the event ran smoothly and made additional recommendations for future events.
