LavaMaeˣ Donates Mobile Hygiene Trailers to Key Bay Area Non-Profits

April 22, 2020

This month, we donated three of our trailers to two key non-profit stakeholders in the Bay Area serving our unhoused neighbors. One trailer was donated to The Roots Community Health Center, and two were donated to Urban Alchemy.

The Roots Community Health Center has been providing medical and behavioral health care, health navigation, workforce enterprises, housing, outreach, and advocacy in East Oakland since 2008. The trailer will be used to launch their Clean360 mobile hygiene program, and LavaMaeˣ will continue to provide technical assistance as part of its replication program.

“We want to thank LavaMaeˣ for donating our future mobile shower unit.” said Roots Clinic on Facebook, “Being able to wash off the day is not only good for your physical and mental health, but staying clean is one of the most effective ways to combat the crisis we face today. Because of this, we will now be able to combat one of the most difficult obstacles those who are homeless face.”

Urban Alchemy (UA) was founded in 2018 in order to bring a sense of peace and respect to America’s most chaotic urban areas that are struggling with the intersection of extreme poverty, addiction, mental illness, and hopelessness. UA Practitioners staff crucial programs in San Francisco and Los Angeles , such at the Pit Stop and SF Clean Team, that dramatically improve sanitation and safe restroom access.

“Urban Alchemy is so grateful to LavaMaeˣ for gifting us these beautiful mobile shower units and trucks!” said a UA on Facebook. “We can’t wait to get out on the streets of Oakland, San Francisco, Alameda, and Berkeley and shower the community with love!”

As part of our replication program, we trained UA Practitioners on trailer mechanics, maintenance, and other resources at our warehouse to prepare them for launch. LavaMaeˣ will continue to help train staff on-site and provide technical assistance when needed.

LavaMaeˣ is teaching the world how to take critical services for our unhoused neighbors to the street by providing free toolkits, mentorship and training for communities that want to launch LavaMaeˣ-designed programs such as mobile hygiene.
