West Oakland Pop-Up Care Village at City Slicker Farms

LavaMaeˣ hosts Pop-Up Care Village at City Slicker Farms, bringing Radical Hospitality® to the community while promoting food justice
City Slicker Farms is a 1.4-acre working urban farm, educational space, and outdoor recreation site located in West Oakland. The organization provides free backyard gardens for the community, operates a Town Fridge providing free food for anyone in need, and hosts community workshops and skill shares to teach anyone about sustainable farming and culinary skills.
LavaMaeˣ recognizes the importance City Slicker Farms has in West Oakland and partnered with the organization to bring showers, haircuts, harm reduction, pet care, and much more to its beautiful space.
“We continue to experiment with new locations for our Pop-Up Care Villages.” Says Kris Kepler, CEO of LavaMaeˣ, “City Slicker Farms has a strong presence in the community, and we’re excited for future engagements with the farm to combine the power of expanding food justice with our Radical Hospitality® approach.”
